ADVANCED APPROACH TO HOMOEOPATHIC MATERIA MEDICA
By
Dr. Raviraj P. PoreM.D.
(Homoeopathy)
I started thinking seriously about the construction and
specially about our method of utilization of MM with or
without repertorisation when I see a case cured by Dr.
Dhiraj Nanda Sir by a single dose of PULS to a female pt
where anyone cant think of PULS for that lady which
seems to be Platina or like some other dominating
arrogant & egoistic personalities. Then I realize if
this can happen with PULS so how many PULS we were
missing in our day to day practice & what happen s with
other cases where we fails to cure because we are
sticking to ‘traditional picture’ of a
particular remedy.
Then I go through all (as much as I can) mind
rubrics of PULS from so many repertories, & analyze each
one with their miasmatic back ground then I see PULS may
be Adulterous/contemptuous/audacious or even jealous.
Then I realize how remedy can hide behind its tradition
picture in our mind? & even after a good analysis of a
case how prejudice can limit our success.
Another thing concerned with the same topic is –
The feeling of a physician after a prescription, is it
depend upon the remedy prescribed? I feel difference in
that is if I prescribed a polycrest proved by Hahnemann
or Hering I feel confident and if I prescribed (very
rarely) a recently proved remedies I feel quite doubtful
about it’s positive response.
This is not a mere coincidence that most of the
remedies proved by Hahnemann were polychrests & so many
remedies proved afterward were having symptoms produced
only with some particular system or level and the mental
picture is not clearly developed or reliable. This is
why provings done by Hahnemann or Hering were very
reliable & authentic and every symptom either physical
or mental is clearly noted after verification, these
were the complete proving without missing anything
because these masters are great observers.
Again without under standing MIASM we cannot grow with
mere symptoms or without understanding the true idea of
disease and various aspects of remedies we use.
Even Hahnemann himself, in Chronic Diseases, suggested
that proving new remedies would not solve all our
problems.
What was the reason for the thousands of unsuccessful
endeavors to heal the other diseases of a chronic nature
so that lasting health might result? Might this be
caused, perhaps, by the still too small number of
homoeopathic remedial means that have so far been proved
as to their pure action? The followers of homoeopathy
have hitherto consoled themselves; but this excuse or
so-called consolation never satisfied the founder of
homoeopathy- particularly because even the new additions
of proved valuable medicines, increasing from year to
year, have not advanced the healing of chronic
(non-venereal) diseases by a single step….
What Hahnemann means in this context is that without the
true understanding of the inner nature of disease and
cure, it will not really help to know more remedies.
Vast knowledge of materia medica is only one aspect of
homoeopathy and no substitute for philosophy.
To go
further with the above mentioned example of PULS let us
see it’s mental traits classified depending upon their
miasmatic background –

If
we ask any Homoeopath or student the totality of PULS,
or how you can describe the PULS personality the usual
answer is –
Mild, timid, yielding, weeping, changeable, sensitive
etc. but when you see the above rubric list this
tradition picture of PULS belongs to Psoric counterpart
of the remedy only. This is because this picture is
based upon the era when psoric miasm was dominant in
society. But the picture is totally different today,
most of the cases we see were syco-syph and yet we were
thinking of psoric phase of PULS or of any particular
remedy this is the reason why we were lacking in giving
results.
Then the question is why we were avoiding the rest of
the totality of PULS. Most of us were using only
25 to 30 percentage of our material medica. Isn’t it ?
Reactions of a PULS personality may be audacious,
contemptuous, amorous or jealous when it is in sycotic ,syph
or syco-syph phase but it needs much expert skill and
confident observation to recognize the basic feeling
PULS or any other remedy yet the reactions to any life
situation varies according to dominant miasm or current
status of a individual.
This is only a example to turn attention towards the
different pictures of a same remedies, we have to
analyze the case with miasmatic approach without any
prejudice. |
