Detoxifying
radiation
Dr. Dhiraj Nanda
As written in last month, modern life-style has many
sources of that expose one to radiation. These are
mobile phones, computers, microwave ovens etc. Each cell
phone tower around us is constantly emitting
electromagnetic radiation. We are always surrounded by
these radiation waves. What is alarming is very low rate
of awareness of harmful effects of radiation and still
low levels of awareness of preventing or removing the
adverse effects of this radiation exposure.
We all know that an ounce of prevention is better than a
pound of cure. Idea is to minimize the exposure to
radiation. This can be achieved by following steps given
below:
1. Decreasing the amount of time you spend near a source
of radiation;
2. Increasing your distance from the radiation source;
and
3. Increasing the shielding between you and the
radiation.
Decreasing the amount of time you spend near a source
of radiation
Exposure to radiation cab be achieved by
1. Reducing the talk on mobile phones. As far as
possible, talk on land lines. If one has to use mobile
telephony keep the talk as little or as small as
possible.
2. Switch off TVs, computer monitors when not required.
3. Reducing the exposure to light during nights. As
already written in January issue of e-journal of
‘achcure.com’ long duration exposure to light also
adversely affects health in many ways. One should be
exposed to adequate hours of darkness.
Increasing your distance from the radiation source
Increase of distance from the source of radiation cab be
achieved by
1. Using a hands-free earphone while talking on mobile
phones.
2. Maintaining adequate distance from TV screen and
computer monitors. It is advisable to keep the screen or
monitor at a level about 30 degree lower than straight
eye vision.
Increasing the shielding between you and the
radiation
One can use protective anti-radiation shield between
self and the radiation. Today many protective
anti-radiation devices are available for mobile phones.
Detoxification
Every technology is boon as well as a bane. In today’s
life, one cannot avoid use of mobile telephony,
computers, TVs and microwaves etc. Now important
question arises in such a situation how to detoxify the
effects of radiation exposure? Some important small but
effective steps are:
1. Adequate intake of water;
2. Baths;
3. Chlorophyll;
4. Darkness and silence;
Adequate intake of water
More than 66% of our body is water. Drinking adequate
amount of water washes toxins. Water is best medium to
flush out ingested toxins and unwanted chemicals that
are formed because of exposure. On precautionary measure
one can take 3-5 liters of water each day.
Baths
Hot water bathing will draw toxins to the surface of the
skin because of the change in temperature. As the water
cools, the cool water will draw those toxins out of the
skin. That’s why one always has to stay in the water
until it cools to get the benefits of this mechanism of
therapeutic cleansing. Best time for this type of
bathing was at night when the body was geared to
detoxification, and said one should only do one bath per
day.
Chlorophyll
Scientific studies done in Japan, China, USA and other
countries suggest that green pigment chlorophyll has
anti-radiation effects. Aglae like spirulina and
chlorella, that are rich in chlorophyll have found to
have very good anti-radiation properties. A simple
example from our day today life will bring out the
efficacy of chlorophyll more forcefully. Imagine that
you are standing in hot summer sun with temperature in
the range of 40-45*C. Which one of the following will
give you maximum relief?
1. shade of a cement shed;
2. shade of a thatched roof;
3. shade of a tin (metal) sheet;
4. shade of lush green tree.
Darkness and silence
Exposure to darkness is essential for body to heal
itself properly. So is exposure to silence. Meditation
in quiet and dark but airy environment is of immense
help. The aim of meditation is to relax body and mind by
avoiding distractions from external as well as internal
sources. It can be achieved only in a quiet and peaceful
place. Those who are accustomed to yogic meditation will
find no difficulty in releasing the benefits of
meditation. Others can meditate as explained below. The
practitioner should sit or lie down in calm, quiet and
airy place. One can listen to light soothing music if it
doesn't distract him. Now he must focus all his
attention to his breathing (now I have started breathing
in; now I am breathing in; now I have completed
inhaling; now I start exhaling; now I am breathing out;
now I have to start again inhaling and so on). During
this type of meditation there is conscious effort on the
part of the patient to focus all his attention on his
breathing. This is simplest type of meditation which has
been found beneficial to most of the patients. It can be
practiced at anytime but early morning time is favoured
because both air and noise pollutions are at their
lowest levels of the day.
